To prevent your plants hanging their heads in summer, they need plenty of water. But how much, how often, water from above or below? Here you find some smart and helpful facts for watering your plants. In the flower bed, one to two watering sessions per week are usually sufficient: better to water more seldom but with plenty of water rather than a little water often. When you water cooled soil in the evening or night then less water evaporates than.

The benefits of watering

Wet leaves become diseased leaves. Kept wet overnight, leaf-mould diseases may result. Leaves that are made wet in the sun develop slight burn marks (burning glass effect of the water droplets). Suitable watering means that the water must sufficiently reach the roots. Too-low water quantities often only cover the upper soil. Adequate watering also means that crop plants are particularly dependent upon evenly moist soil in the time until their crops are ripe for harvesting. Always watering at only one root point leads to one-sided root growth and thereby to poorer nutrient absorption in the soil. Therefore, always water around the plant and distribute in the entire irrigation area. Over time, you will accumulate enough experience to know when the garden needs to water, how much water to water.

Why upgrade watering?

Irrigation is necessary, but it can also create problems. Water is a source of nutrients, but also dissolves and transports other nutrients to the roots. The roots also need air, oxygen must be taken to turn and carbon dioxide needs to be removed from the root to be excreted out. Ideal for growing crops should include 50% solids and 50% aerosols, and with 50% space, water will occupy 25% of the space.

Watered properly

For winter or rainy season, irrigation can be done every 2 weeks. However, when the weather is hot and dry, water every 2 to 6 days. Do not worry too much about the weather. Simply look at the soil with enough water about 90cm from the surface down to stop irrigation, wait for the soil to dry from about 25cm from the surface down to begin irrigation.
